Sterndale Singers will be performing Bach's Christmas Oratorio in collaboration with Sheffield Chamber Choir and accompanied by the well-known West Riding Ensemble, in the magnificent surroundings and acoustics of St Marie's Cathedral Church in Sheffield. Soloists to be announced in September.
Bach composed this to be sung at the Christmas of 1734-35. It comprises a chronological narrative from the birth of Christ to the arrival of the three Wise Men at the stable to present their gifts to Jesus. It takes in along the way, the angel's appearance to the shepherds, the shepherd's visit to Bethlehem, and the arrival of the Wise Men at Herod's court.
This will be the perfect musical accompaniment to your festive season this Christmas. Please put this concert in your diaries now!
